Lower Level (Basement) Design Features
-
The first thing that strikes you when you enter the basement, is the "Boiler Room." There are seven heating zones with Type M (heavy duty) copper pipes.
-
There are two Forced Hot Water boilers to heat the entire complex: an oil-fired boiler made by Burnham (model V17, which is a high-volume unit); and a wood boiler (also Burnham) as a backup unit.
-
There are two 330 gallon oil tanks, for a 660 gal. max capacity
-
The steel frame is readily visible, constructed with "I" beams as large as 18 inches tall; this allows for the open concept rooms on the first level. Durability and structural integrity were primary considerations used in the frame construction.
-
The walk-out feature is accomplished via an 8-foot Andersen sliding glass door.
-
A Music Room is acoustically construced and separately heated.
-
A giant Cold-Storage room has concrete walls on all four sides, for all of your food shelves and other "just in case" storage needs.
-
Other features are: 3/4 Bath with wood ceiling, dog kennel pens and extra washer/dryer hookups.
